Inside Air India's New Boeing One For VVIP's, Prime Minster and President.

The modified VVIP aircraft have ‘Bharat’ and ‘India’ written on them along with Ashok Emblem and the tricolor of the National Flag painted on it.








The first custom-made Boeing 777 aircraft, part of the two-aircraft Air India One fleet which will be used by the President, Vice President and Prime Minister, arrived at Delhi International Airport from the United States on October 1. 

  • The aircraft can fly between the US and India without having to stop for refuelling.


  • The VVIP Air India One is equipped with an advanced communication system which allows audio and video communications to function in mid-air with top-tier security against hacking.


  • The modified B777 plane comes fitted with sophisticated defence systems called Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures (LAIRCM) Self-Protection Suites (SPS).
  • The new VVIP aircraft is fully loaded with systems like missile warning sensors, Guardian Laser Transmitter Assemblies and Advanced Integrated Defensive Electronic Warfare Suites (AIDEWS) for maximum security. 


  • The aircraft comes complete with a conference room, a cabin for VVIP passengers, a medical center as well as seats for other dignitaries, staff. Once refueled, this aircraft will be able to fly continuously for 17 hours.



Air India One to have state-of-art defence system.




  • The Air India One will be equipped with a Self-Protection Suite, capable of jamming enemy radar frequencies, diverting heat-seeking missiles and intercepting advanced intermediate range missile systems. All this can be done without the intervention of the crew.
  • The pilot will simply be informed that a threat missile was detected and jammed.
  • According to the notification, India had requested to buy two SPS consisting of AN/AAQ 24(V)N Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures, ALQ-211(V)8 Advanced Integrated Defensive Electronic Warfare Suite (AIDEWS) and AN/ALE-47 Counter-Measures Dispensing System (CMDS) to protect two Boeing-777 Head-of-State aircraft.
